A nice place to call home with great camp life to boot, this mine has a super long life with significant resources and mine reserves. It’s a high volume operation producing circa 200koz gold pa and is now moving to a high grades phase, plus has a very low cost (AISC running amazingly just over $800.) There are operational pits, higher grade satellites and underground potential operations. Grades are increasing at depth and 50% increases in mill capacity is planned over the next few years.

Promotions within the wider business & ongoing expansion plans of this open pit operation have now dictated the need for an experienced mining engineer to join the operations at Mid to Senior Level, with a package $150,000 - $215,000 depend upon your skillset. A Quarry Manager’s ticket will be very, very well regarded.

The position

As there is some flexibility with the wider operations, and this role is open from a mid to senior, your final role will depend upon your skillset. Your tasks will comprise of a number of the following –

  • Acting as leader / mentor, unearthing the skills and interests of mining personnel in order to develop career paths
  • De-risk the strategic mine plan
  • Undertaking the daily oversight and co-ordination, prioritisation and scheduling of surface mining activities of 4+ diggers & 2+ Dump Trucks
  • Pit optimisation and development of short and medium term mine plans
  • Perform or oversee Drill and blast planning and scheduling
  • Deliver the required production plan tonnages, quality, safety requirements.
  • Review and approve Weekly Schedules, Monthly Plans, Quarterly Forecasts and Annual Budgets; and providing technical assistance, supervising and lead the Production Engineering team 
  • Reconciliation of 3 months plan against 2 years plan 
  • Support Technical Services team to deliver accurate, safe and cost-effective MOP and Life of Mine Plan
  • Ensuring financial objectives are achieved
  • Embrace the ideation and review of ideas that will lead to business improvement
  • Monitoring of the dewatering team

About You

This role, FIFO from Perth, is for a mining engineer with a few years of Australian hardrock surface experience under your belt with sound production & reconciliation skills. You will be relevant degree qualified though more importantly, you will be experienced enough to undertake a number of these tasks without supervision, with positive work references from your previous mining manager / senior mining engineer to attest.

You will need to have experience conducting drill & blast, truck and excavator planning and scheduling, plus using software such as Surpac or Deswik and have Australian open pit mining experience.
